Meta description too short

How to fix it

Expand to 120 to 160 characters with specific, page-relevant copy.

Sibling checks in this category

• Meta description missing - Without a meta description, search engines auto-generate a snippet, which is rarely flattering for click-through.
• Meta description too long - Descriptions wider than what Google shows (~985px on desktop) get truncated in SERP snippets, losing your final call to action. Truncation depends on the rendered width of the characters, not just their count.
• Multiple meta descriptions - More than one meta description tag is present; crawlers pick one unpredictably.
• Duplicate meta description - Multiple pages share the same meta description, weakening relevance signals.
